Mechanical Engineering Trainer
Location: Abingdon – On-site 5 days a week.
Salary: £38,000 – £42,000

This role gives you the opportunity to transition into technical training, sharing your practical knowledge with apprentices and trainees while building a rewarding career in education.
What You Will Do
- Deliver practical and theoretical engineering training to apprentices and trainees at levels 2, 3, and HNC/HND
- Teach core workshop skills such as assembly, hand fitting, milling, turning, fabrication, and CNC operation
- Support learners to develop problem-solving skills and confidence in handling mechanical equipment
- Prepare lesson plans, practical exercises, and assessment materials
- Monitor student progress and provide regular constructive feedback
- Maintain workshop tools, machinery, and training resources
- Embed the latest industrial practices and standards into all training
- Ensure a safe and productive learning environment

Qualifications
Essential:
- Level 3 Engineering qualification or equivalent
- Recognised teaching qualification or willingness to achieve
- Recognised assessor qualification or willingness to achieve (e.g., A1 or Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement)
Desirable:
- Functional Skills Level 2 / GCSEs in Maths and English
- Quality Assurance qualification (e.g., V1 or Level 4 Internal Quality Assurance)
- Coaching qualification
- Higher education qualification (Level 4+) in an engineering discipline
Skills and Experience
- Extensive hands-on mechanical engineering experience
- Familiarity with workshop processes, assembly, milling, turning, CNC programming, and fabrication
- Ability to create engaging training resources and deliver practical demonstrations
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Commitment to health, safety, and learner development
