Apprentice Technical Trainer – Light Vehicle
Location: Training Centre–based – Milton Keynes
Salary: £36,000 – £41,200 + company car / car allowance
The Opportunity
Are you a Vehicle Technician or Mechanic looking to step away from the tools and into a more sustainable, rewarding career?
We’re working with a respected training provider who are looking to appoint an Apprentice Technical Trainer to deliver the Level 3 Light Vehicle Service Technician apprenticeship. This role is ideal for experienced automotive professionals who enjoy coaching others and want to pass on their technical knowledge. No previous teaching or training experience required.
Full training, qualifications and ongoing support will be provided to help you transition successfully into a trainer role.
The Role
You’ll be responsible for delivering engaging, practical training to apprentices already working within the automotive industry. Delivery will be workshop-based, supported by structured lesson plans and a modern training environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering practical and theory-based training to Light Vehicle apprentices
- Teaching servicing, diagnostics, fault-finding, repair and maintenance systems
- Demonstrating correct workshop practices, tools and procedures
- Supporting apprentices with their learning, development and technical understanding
- Preparing learners for progression and successful completion of their apprenticeship
- Working closely with curriculum and quality teams to maintain high standards

What You’ll Bring
- Strong hands-on experience in light vehicle servicing, diagnostics and repair
- A solid understanding of modern vehicle systems and workshop practices
- The ability to explain technical concepts clearly and practically
- An interest in mentoring, coaching or developing apprentices
- Basic IT confidence (Word, email, online systems)
Qualifications
- Level 3 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair / Automotive Engineering (or equivalent)
- e.g. NVQ, City & Guilds, time-served apprenticeship
- Teaching or assessor qualifications are not required – full support and funded qualifications provided
