SEND Teacher – Independent Specialist School (11-16)
Salary: £32,700 – £43,000 + £5,000 Welcome Bonus!
Location: Scunthorpe

Our client, is an independent SEMH specialist school for students aged 11-16, many of whom have EHCPs and diagnoses such as ADHD or ASD. The school provides a safe, structured, and nurturing environment for young people who have struggled in mainstream education or are at risk of exclusion.
What You’ll Do
- Plan and deliver engaging, evidence-informed lessons tailored to the individual needs of pupils, including those with SEND and trauma histories.
- Use assessment data to monitor pupil progress and adapt teaching strategies accordingly.
- Promote pupils’ social, emotional, and academic development through trauma-informed and therapeutic approaches.
- Maintain high expectations for behaviour and learning, consistent with the school’s behaviour policy and Staff Code of Conduct.
- Collaborate with teaching assistants and specialist staff to provide effective, personalised support.
What We’re Looking For
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS or QTLS)
- Experience teaching in Secondary education
- Proven experience working with pupils with complex needs and challenging behaviour
- Strong understanding of curriculum, assessment, and behaviour management in specialist education settings
- Ability to plan, deliver, and assess effective teaching and learning
- Resilience, empathy, adaptability, and a passion for supporting vulnerable pupils
- Humanities specialism preferred but not essential
