Job Title: SENCo
Location: Ipswich area (more details released upon application)
Contract: Full-time, term time only
Salary: £42,000

Our client is seeking a dedicated and experienced SENCO to join a vibrant, specialist education setting supporting students aged 5 to 18 with complex needs.
Key Responsibilities As SENCO, you will play a central role in shaping and delivering high-quality SEND provision. Your duties will include:
- Leading the strategic development of SEND policy and provision
- Designing and implementing targeted interventions to support pupil progress
- Monitoring and evaluating outcomes in line with EHCPs
- Conducting annual reviews and supporting safeguarding as a Deputy DSL
- Working closely with staff, families, and external professionals
- Coordinating day-to-day SEND operations and maintaining accurate records
- Advising colleagues on effective teaching and behaviour strategies
- Leading intervention groups and assessing their impact
- Supporting pupil transitions into and beyond the setting
- Undertaking a 50% teaching commitment (secondary experience preferred, ideally Science)
Requirements The successful candidate will have:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- National Award for SEN Coordination, or willingness to complete the NPQ for SENCOs
- Experience in school self-evaluation and development planning
- Background in working within autism and/or SEMH settings
- Experience delivering training and leading INSET sessions
- Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice
- Commitment to ongoing professional development
