Salary: Up to £37,500 plus SEN Allowance (£2,679)
Contract: Full Time, Term Time Only

About Our Client
Our client is an independent specialist education provider supporting children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
 
Due to continued growth and increasing pupil numbers, they are looking to appoint a passionate and dedicated Secondary Science GCSE Teacher to join their team.
 
Class sizes are small, typically no more than six pupils, and are supported by Teaching Assistants to ensure pupils receive a highly personalised learning experience.
 
The provision supports pupils with a range of additional needs, including SEMH, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD), attachment needs, sensory processing difficulties and mild to moderate learning needs.
 
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced teacher looking to make a genuine difference within a specialist setting where relationships, wellbeing and individual progress are at the heart of everything they do.
 
The Role
 
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality Science lessons at GCSE level while supporting pupils with a range of additional needs.
 
Key responsibilities include:

  • Planning and delivering engaging Science lessons in line with the national curriculum
  • Adapting teaching approaches to meet individual pupil needs and learning styles
  • Supporting pupils with SEMH and additional needs to achieve positive educational outcomes
  • Promoting positive behaviour and engagement within the classroom
  • Monitoring and reporting on pupil progress and wellbeing
  • Working collaboratively with Teaching Assistants and wider school staff
  • Supporting pupils during enrichment activities, educational visits and non-classroom learning opportunities
  • Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils, families and colleagues

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Degree-level education
  • Previous successful experience teaching Science at Secondary/GCSE level
  • Experience working with pupils with SEMH and/or additional needs within an educational setting
  • Strong behaviour management skills
  • A proactive, flexible and nurturing approach
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development
  • Willingness to undertake an Enhanced DBS check
