They are now seeking an experienced Head of Bid Writing to lead the development of large, complex and innovative public sector bids – a pivotal role at the heart of their growth strategy.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can both write winning bids themselves and raise the quality bar across an established business development function.

The Role
As Head of Bid Writing, you will lead end-to-end bid development for high-value public sector contracts, while coaching and challenging teams to improve quality, consistency and scoring.
You’ll work closely with senior stakeholders, subject matter experts and business development colleagues to ensure submissions are compelling, compliant and competitive.

Key Responsibilities

• Write and lead the development of high-quality, high-scoring bid responses
• Oversee the production of bids, tenders and frameworks from storyboard to submission (3 direct reports)
• Act as the challenge, review and final sign-off point for written content
• Coordinate inputs from multi-disciplinary teams across the organisation
• Drive continuous improvement in bid quality using feedback and lessons learned
• Develop and maintain bid templates, documentation and best-practice resources
• Coach and upskill colleagues in bid writing techniques and storytelling
• Leverage tools, technology and AI-enabled solutions to enhance submissions

You’ll be a confident senior bid professional with a strong track record of winning complex public sector (education, employment & justice) opportunities.
 
Essential Experience & Skills

• Proven success leading and winning large-scale public sector bids
• Strong understanding of public procurement and commissioning
• Experience bidding to funders such as:
• DWP, ESFA / DfE
• MOJ
• DBT, DESNZ
• Mayoral Combined Authorities
• Local Authorities
• Excellent written, editing and storytelling skills
• Strong stakeholder management and project leadership capability
