The Bid Writer will play a key role in securing funding and contracts across the skills, learning, employability, and justice sectors. This role focuses on developing high-quality, compliant, and compelling bids in response to public sector commissioning opportunities, particularly from bodies such as the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), Ministry of Justice (MOJ), and related agencies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the end-to-end writing of bids, tenders, and funding applications within the skills and learning sector
- Produce clear, persuasive, and evidence-based responses that meet commissioner requirements and scoring criteria
- Tailor content for commissioners including DWP, MOJ, local authorities, and combined authorities
- Translate service delivery models, impact data, and outcomes into compelling written narrative
- Ensure all submissions are fully compliant with ITTs, SQs, and framework requirements
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of commissioning priorities within employability, skills, adult education, and justice sectors
- Interpret complex guidance and ensure responses align with policy, contractual, and funding expectations
- Work closely with delivery teams, finance, quality, and senior leadership to gather input and evidence
- Facilitate bid planning meetings and manage contributions from multiple stakeholders
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience writing successful bids within the skills, learning, employability, or justice sectors
- Strong understanding of public sector commissioning, particularly DWP and/or MOJ
- Excellent written communication skills with the ability to write clearly, persuasively, and concisely
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines
- Experience working with cross-functional teams
